You see, prior to the industrial revolution, when there were not many machines, people used to work by hand. Manual labor enabled them to burn off more calories than one could through any form of exercise. That is the reason why people of that era rarely suffered from the disease called obesity. Cut down to the present - we have got every type of convenience at home, such as computers, freeze, television, cars, telecommunications, etc. All these facilities enable us to do things right from our own home that we would otherwise have to do by going outside. In other words, these gadgets are making us lazy fellows. And that is the reason why an increasing number of children and adults are suffering from obesity and other related diseases. So what is to be done? Certainly you have no time machine to take your to the pre-industrial revolution era. But wait, there are some diet tips you can follow to lose weight.

1. Drink water and stay away from soda and sweetened drinks: Water is essential not only for life, but also for weight loss. Water cleans out all the harmful toxins from our body, boosts our metabolic rate and helps us to lose weight. You should drink at least eight glasses of water or more per day. You should also drink a glass of water each before and after meal, as well as another glass in between your meals. This way, you will consume far less food than you would otherwise, with the result that you will lose weight fast!

Soda will make you fat, so stay away from it! You should also stay away from the fizzy drinks for the same reason - they contain a lot of sugar which accumulate in your body in the form of fat.

2. Eat watery fruits: You can of course eat any fruit, but if your digestive system is not healthy, you should try to eat fruits that have 90% of water content, such as tomatoes and watermelons. These fruits would be digested quickly plus you won’t gain weight; the only thing that you will gain is water which you will usually flush out after a few hours!

Just because fruits are good for you does not mean that you should get lazy and buy packaged fruit juices. These packaged juices contain little or no actual nutritional value; even the so called ‘natural’ fruit juices contain a lot of sugar and other preservatives, all of which will result in weight gain.

3. Fiber-rich foods are your best bet: If you are serious about weight loss, you must reduce your food intake. However, this is not very easy to do. Your stomach was accustomed to eating pounds of food and now you are limiting yourself only to morsels! Naturally you will feel hungry.

However, if you eat fiber-rich foods, foods, you won’t feel hungry too often. This is because these foods take some time to digest plus they make your stomach full quicker than those carbohydrate-rich products. Also, since they release calories very slowly, you won’t gain weight even if you eat lots of fiber-rich foods. Most fruits and raw vegetables are rich in fiber.
