3 Tips For Fast Teen Weight Loss
Obesity has become such a huge phenomenon in the last few years that forget about adults, even children and teens are getting affected by it. The case for teens is different from that of adults. Since teenage is the growing age, teenagers need a lot more nutrition than their adult counterparts. Unlike adults, they cannot afford to ‘cut down’ on carb intake or start a ‘diet’; if they do then their bodies would become malnourished!
1. Burn your calories: For teenagers I don’t recommend cutting down on food intake, although I would suggest that if you are a teenager, you can at least cut down on your junk food intake. There is no need to reduce the intake of healthy foods because the more healthy foods you eat, the healthier you will become!
At the same time, it is also essential that you burn the calories you consume. This is where exercise comes. For teens, I wouldn’t recommend a seven-hour marathon at a gym. Instead, they can indulge in sports such as swimming, baseball, etc. Even simple walking will help a lot in weight loss!
2. Eat complex carbs: Carbohydrates are the main source of energy for your body. Since teens often have to juggle a lot of different tasks, they need energy, and that is why cutting down on carb intake isn’t a good option. However, you can surely change the type of carbohydrates you consume. Simple carbs present in white flour and sugar give you a sudden burst of energy but unfortunately it doesn’t last long; on the flip side, you gain weight. You can replace the simple carbs with their complex counterparts, such as cauliflower, rice, oatmeal, etc.
Unlike the simple carbs, complex carbs break down very slowly. This means you will be able to stay active for a long time. On the other hand, since complex carbs don’t release all the calories at once, you won’t gain weight either!
3.Never skip your meals: Just like adults, even a lot of teens skip their meals, especially the breakfasts and lunches. They do it for a different reason though; they don’t do it in order to lose weight fast; rather, because of the tremendous pressure of going to school, doing the necessary homework and partying and all that, they often forget about their meals. But remember that if you skip even a single meal, you will soon suffer from loss of energy because you are basically depriving your body of the nutrition that it needs to survive.
If that is not enough for you, meal-skipping will make your body believe that you are going to kill it, and in order to save itself from death, it will store energy in the form of fat (instead of burning it). The ultimate result - you won’t be able to lose weight!
