Technology has advanced so far that we no longer need to join a gym for performing workouts. No longer we need to join a fitness center in order to lose weight and become slim. Why? With the passing years, a range of books on weight loss have come up, each of them advocating a different type of healthy diet plan and best of all, it doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg to follow these plans! These books have been written by top weight loss experts. In this article, I will tell you about some of these popular weight loss books, and I am sure at least one of them will click with you!

1. The Atkins diet: The famous or infamous Atkins diet advises you to follow a diet which is high in fat and protein but low in carbohydrates. The rationale behind this diet plan is that carbohydrates are the main source of all the calories responsible for weight gain, so their total elimination is the only way to lose weight! This diet plan limits consumption of fruits. Bread and pasta are totally prohibited!

2. Carbohydrate Addict’s Diet by Dr. Heller: This diet plan is pretty similar to the Atkins diet, except that while the Atkins diet calls for total elimination of carbs, the Addict’s diet plan recommends a diet that is low in carbohydrates. This diet plan also recommends you to eat foods like meat and dairy products, but be careful that too much consumption of these foods can damage your health! That this diet plan also recommends the consumption of vegetables seems to be the saving grace!

3. Eat More, Weigh Less by Dr. Ornish: This is very much a restrictive diet, and if you follow this diet exclusively, don’t be surprised if you feel fatigued after a couple of weeks. That it recommends a low fat diet doesn’t matter much. My only nitpick is that it asks you to watch out for the ‘glowing’ foods and forbids you from eating them! It also eliminates the consumption of egg whites and lean chicken meat! This diet is extremely poor in calcium content; therefore I don’t recommend it!

4. Fat Loss 4 Idiots: By far the best diet plan I have ever seen and in fact, it is my favorite diet program! It is a far cry from the world of restrictive diets and fads; on the other hand, this diet plan asks you to eat foods of different caloric content so as to confuse the body to such an extent that your metabolic rate is increased and you tend to burn fat faster as a result of it. Not surprisingly, this diet is increasingly gaining in popularity. However, there is little or no suggestion of exercises, which I believe should be an important component of any weight loss program!

I have laid out the salient features of all the different available diet programs! Even though I have added my opinion wherever necessary, I want you to take the best decision possible for yourself, as only you can decide what is best for your body! Good luck with healthy weight loss!
