Most of the weight loss supplements and pills available out there are focused on just one thing: increasing your metabolic rate. But why is it so? What has metabolism got to with a person’s body weight? Is it really possible to increase our metabolic rate? In short, Metabolism is defined as a group of chemical reactions that take place in our body in order to help it survive. A high rate of metabolism usually helps one burn body fat. Metabolism depends on a number of factors, including but not limited to age, heath, sex etc. Now let us go to extreme fat loss truths.

1. Body weight has nothing to do with metabolism: Some people harbor the misconception that the more your body weight, the lower will be your metabolic rate. Some people go so far as to say that overweight people cannot lose weight because their metabolism is at a very low level, and they think that those who are slim have a higher metabolic rate. This is simply not the case. An overweight person can have a high metabolic rate and a slimmer body can have a lower metabolic rate. Metabolic rate has nothing to do with body weight. Body weight is influenced by the number of calories you consume vs. the number of calories you burn.

2.Exercise and water and two things that can boost your metabolic rate: Water, as you know, constitutes 70% of our body. Water is not only important for detoxifying our body, it also plays a key role in weight loss. In fact, you lose a few pounds just by detoxifying your body. Since water also increases your metabolic rate, you are able to burn fat at a greater speed.

Exercises are also essential for quick weight loss. You should do only muscle-building exercises, such as strength training and aerobics. These exercises help you build strong muscles, which in turn increases your metabolic rate. Result? Once again, you burn fat at a tremendous speed.

3. Skipping meals is not the ticket to quick weight loss: Far from it, skipping meals will only make you fatter. Remember that in order to lose weight, you must do everything possible to keep your metabolic rate at a very high level. Meal-skipping however has the opposite effect! When you skip meals, your body automatically assumes that you are going to starve it to death. To save itself, it slows down your metabolism and stores body fat instead of burning it, as an energy conservation measure. So you don’t lose an iota of fat!
