There is just too much of misinformation in the weight loss industry. In fact, I would say that there is more misinformation that information. And why blame just the weight loss industry? It is the same story in all the industries. In this article however we are concerned about the weight loss industry, and will tell you honest truths about low carb diets, fitness and exercises programs and a whole lot more, truths which you may not have been told before!
1. The truth about low carb diets: In essence, low carb diets were invented because it was believed that carbohydrates are the real culprit behind weight gain. While recent researches have proved otherwise, people continue to believe in these myths. If you deprive your body of carbohydrates you may be able to lose a few ounces of fat in the beginning but will it be worthwhile, considering the irreparable damage you are doing to your body? Remember that your body derives energy from carbohydrates, and you need energy for doing the various workouts. By depriving your body of the basic source of energy, you are not only depriving yourself from energy, but also muscles, because muscles cannot be found in the absence of energy. If you are worried that excessive consumption of carbohydrates will make you heavier, then consume carbs before and after exercise. This way, whatever excess calories are left in the body will be easily burnt off!
2. Body part training programs won’t get you anywhere: People often indulge in body part training programs because they are made to believe that spot reduction of fat is possible. However, the truth is that it is impossible to reduce fat at any particular body part. Even if you want to lose only your belly fat, or slim down your blubbery arms, you need to do workouts that will involve your entire body, not just one part. Body part training programs are not at all effective as far as weight loss is concerned. They don’t help you in losing fat; on the other hand, you will lose your valuable muscles with their help!
3. Frequent meal eating is not impossible: Unless you think so, that is! I know that often it is very hard to deprive yourself of large meals but remember that whatever you are doing is for the well being of your body. Eating several small meals throughout the day will speed up your metabolic rate, which in turn will help you burn more fat! Frequent meal eating is not at all impossible if you plan your meals ahead and more importantly, stick to your plan!
4. Information overload will result in confusion and distraction: It is good to expand your knowledgebase about weight loss and fitness; it helps to protect yourself against thugs such as unscrupulous drug dealers or fitness gadget manufacturers. But information can also be your worst enemy if you try to absorb too much information at a time. For example, while I am saying here that low cab diets are not good, you may read elsewhere that it is the only diet you should follow! What would you do then?
You don’t know whom to believe, and hence, end up getting confused and decide to take your weight loss endeavors to the extreme level by fasting, crash dieting, or workout too intensely. At the end of it, you have had enough of it, and you decide to quit it all and go your merry way! This is the way people fail to take advantage of the information supplied to them! There will be different and conflicting opinions, but ultimately you need to be the judge. Once you learn the basics don’t strive to learn more, or you will end up achieving nothing! Remember that fad diets and fancy exercising machines won’t take you anywhere unless you have got the right attitude.
